- MM Important what?
- JK BEING UNDEFEATED AND WINNING THE SUPER BOWL

3) Would you change your perfect season for two more Superbowl wins?
- MM First of all, do the math. We were the first team to go to 3 straight Super Bowls. We went undefeated in 1972 at 17-0, and back to back in 1973 at 15-2. So why would I change? We have the two most important Super Bowl wins in Super Bowl history.
- JK NO. WE WENT TO THREE CONSECUTIVE SUPER BOWL AND WON TWO. THE PERFECT SEASON JUST TOPS IT OFF.

4) Rumors say that NFL is considering the possibility of adding two more games to the regular season. What do you think about it? Consider you r record should be safe forever after a change like that.
- MM When the leagues merged in 1970, we played a block of 20 games. Six exhibition and 14 Regular Season. I can't remember when, but they changed it by moving 2 exhibition games into the column of "Regular Season Games". So in effect, they would not be adding two more games, it would mean that 2 more game would count. It's still the same 20 game block. It just means the fans have to pay more money. And it has nothing to do with our record, because it's not the amount of games you win, it's the amount of games you don't lose... it's about the "0", as in 17-0.
- JK ITS TOO MANY GAMES BUT OUR RECORD I BELIEVE IS SAFE ANYWAY.

5) With the Jason Taylor trade, Dolphins have not a star in their roster. How many years will it take before we can see Miami at playoffs again? What do you think about Parcells' work so far?
- MM When Bill Parcells was hired to restructure the Dolphins, this marked the first time since 1970 that a transformation like this has taken place. I don't know if I would be talking playoffs now, let them win their first game. I mean, let 'em win their second game (they already lost their first game). But in 1970, in Shula's first year, we lost our first game to the Boston Patriots and went on to 10-4 and the playoffs. So if you were going to make something up, it could be based on what I just said.
- JK I THINK PARCELLS IS GOING TO DO A GOOD JOB, BUT IT IS GOING TO TAKE AT LEAST A COUPLE OF YEARS.

6) 35 years after, do you think your great run has gained value? Or in '73 it was considered greater than it is considered today?
- MM Frankly, it wasn't considered at all by anyone except us because it seemed so unachievable that people couldn't relate to an accomplishment in professional sports where one team beat everyone they played from the beginning of the season to the end. There's something called the "Historical Present". It's defined as "the present tense used in relating past events", meaning it was 35 years ago... and it's right this minute. As the years go by, it becomes an even greater accomplishment as witnessed last year in the Super Bowl.
- JK EVERY YEAR IT BECOMES A BIGGER ACCOMPLISHMENT.

7) How did you celebrate the Perfect Season? What is needed to celebrate a Perfect Season?
- MM Every year we "quietly" celebrate by "toasting" our accomplishment. This year, we are inviting ALL of our fans in the Dolphin Nation around the world to join us in the celebration when the last team goes down in flames. We plan to make this an annual tradition. We will be celebrating our achievement on the Sunday following the last team going down in flames. Get your champagne ready! Stay tuned for more details.
- JK USUALLY BY MYSELF. WHAT IS NEEDED IS A PERFECT SEASON A 1,000 WINNING PERCENTAGE.

9) 35 years ago the life outside the football field was so different... this modern life of the NFL players can be an obstacle ?
- MM You're right. Not only can it be, but it definitely is a distraction because the players today view themselves as entertainers. To us, it was a job and you went to work. I can't recall one time where Don Shula said "Go out and have some fun today".
- JK I DON'T KNOW ABOUT AN OBSTACLE, BUT CERTAINLY CAN BECOME A DISTRACTION.

10) Did you ever know you have some fans abroad, in Italy for istance?
- MM I did not know how far our fan base has grown to now include people who do not live in the United States. I think it's a great thing that you guys have such an interest. If you would have had the chance to see us play, you would know why our fans are so loyal.
- JK WE WOULD LIKE TO THINK SO AND THANK YOU FOR BEING DOLPHIN FANS.

11) Miami Dolphins it was a great team in the past, with you 2 on the roster... 2008 Dolphins how are so far to go back on the map?
- MM I think that it's the structure of the Draft and the type of talent that teams look for, based upon what they need to make themselves competitive in today's football. They are basically starting over again, which is what we did back in 1970 and you see the results in history.
- JK I DO NOT UNDERSTAND THE QUESTION BUT I GUESS SO.

12) Do you agree about the 2008 Draft?
- MM Anybody can talk a good game in the locker room. You put your pads in your pants, you get your ankles taped, you put your shoulder pads on, you go out on the field... and then we see what your game looks like. So the draft is only relevant to the productivity of the people who were drafted and the people who are already there.
- JK YEAH ITS FINE

13) What you think about a player who get 4 games sospention just in the 4th regular season games, but he allow to play eventually play off games? Its not better to take him off in the playoff run too???
- MM I don't know what to think about that one because the rules were different, the time was different, the players were different, and American society was different. To me, it almost seems as if these are kids playing in the NFL today. Someone who is drafted makes millions of dollars and can't go drink a beer because he's too young tells you that "the men" who play the game now are different than the men who played the game when I did.

14) From when you start playing in the NFL until today which is the best NFL commisioner?
- MM Close your eyes and what do you see? That's right, nothing. Because that's what I have in my mind as what the Commissioner's have done to the game. The new players have all the advantages and the players who made the game have none. To put it in perspective, the average retired player has a pension worth about $14,000 a year. The Commissioner and the late Gene Upshaw both made between $18-21,000 a day. Clearly, the commissioner and the top brass representing the players today could and should do more for the players who made the game what it is today.
